Aloha and Quyanna

Salt & Snow was inspired by a life lived between two remarkable places: Alaska and Hawaii.

Founder Dana McMillin grew up in northwestern Alaska along the Bering Sea coast, where vast wilderness, rugged shorelines, and endless skies create a deep connection to the land. Life in Alaska teaches patience, humility, and an appreciation for the quiet beauty of nature.

Years later, Hawaii became another place of meaning when Dana and her husband, Kevin, were married on the Big Island at Kona Salt Farm — a locally owned venue that allowed them to celebrate in a way that felt deeply personal and connected to the land.

While planning their destination wedding from afar, Dana and Kevin experienced firsthand how overwhelming travel decisions can be. Navigating venues, vendors, and logistics from thousands of miles away proved challenging — especially while trying to support locally owned businesses and avoid the large commercial wedding industry.

That experience sparked the idea for Salt & Snow.

Today, Salt & Snow helps travelers plan thoughtful journeys between Alaska and Hawaii, connecting guests with locally owned venues, trusted vendors, and meaningful experiences that honor the culture and natural beauty of each place.

The philosophy is simple:
